Unfortunately I lost the high quality original jpg files following a computer crash, sadly I had no back up copies. The images shown above are scanned copies that were printed on standard paper.Sorry for the poor quality and blue tint to the photos.
San Luis is located just south of the capital Mahon, it was the only aeroport for the island until the newer international aeroport was built. The two aeroports are very close with parallel north/south runways and air traffic control is provide by the tower at the international aeroport. I have visited San Luis a few time off season to find it deserted with no sign of life. The flying club has a single hangar and a restarant on site but check before you set off. My trip with an instructor took us along the rugged north coast before turning south to cross the island to Cala Galdana, a pretty little bay where we were staying. After taking a few photos we headed back along the coast to directly cross the southern threshold of the international airport before landing back at San Luis.As we still had ten miunite left of the hour my instructor suggested a touch and go.I had 30 hrs on C 172s but none in the last year so I welcomed the practice. If you are thinking of going check the prices of the aircraft, after the flight I found out that I could have flown in the biplane slightly cheaper,it would have been too windy on the day I chose.
Altogether a very enjoyable afternoon and my thanks to my instructor and the club.
